Representatives from the Queensland State Archives visited Nanango and Kingaroy council offices recently to help preserve important parts of the South Burnett’s history.

The representatives collected pre-1950 historical record books for transfer, cataloguing and digitisation which should ensure the preservation and open access of Council’s records for generations to come.

The South Burnett Regional Council has been working with the Archives for 18 months to transfer prioritised historical records of significance.

“Through Council’s relationship with QSA, Council has been selected as one of three south-east Queensland councils to participate in this trial program,” Mayor Brett Otto said.

“The transfer will involve approximately 111 valuation and rates register / ledger record books and 455 agenda / minutes records books.”
