A serious head-on collision on the Bunya Highway on the southern approaches to Wooroolin blocked traffic for about an hour on Saturday evening.

The incident, involving a dual-cab Nissan 4WD ute and a Toyota hatchback, occurred near the intersection with Quarry Road, just before 4:40pm.

Debris from the crash was strewn across the roadway.

Police, QFES and two ambulances attended.

QAS paramedics treated two people at the scene; one person was later transported to Kingaroy Hospital.

The highway re-opened to single-lane traffic about 5:20pm.

UPDATE June 25: Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney, said it would be alleged the driver of the ute – a 28-year-old Kingaroy man – had fallen asleep at the wheel.

His vehicle then crossed on to the wrong side of the road and collided with the Toyota which was was heading north.

The driver of the Nissan is believed to have suffered a broken wrist while the driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old Morningside man, was transported to Kingaroy hospital for observation.

The Nissan driver will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court charged with driving without due care and attention.

A person has been transported by ambulance to Nanango Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway near Blackbutt on Saturday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 6:00pm.

On Saturday morning, QAS paramedics were called to a two-vehicle collision in Nanango about 8:20am.

Two people were assessed at the scene with minor injuries.

No further information is available.

Also on Saturday morning, police attended a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Albert and Kent streets, Kingaroy.

Police allege the 54-year-old male driver of a Holden sedan failed to give way to a Mazda utility on Albert Street about 11:00am.

The Holden driver, from Branyan, was issued a traffic infringement notice for fail to give way ($378).

No one was injured in the crash.
