Nanango Year 12’s Mia De Jong arrived in style in definitely the longest vehicle on the night … a very impressive stretch Hummer limousine

September 15, 2026

The 2026 South Burnett Year 12 School Formal season kicked off with a vengeance on Friday night with both Nanango State High School and St John’s Lutheran School in Kingaroy hosting gala events.

The Nanango students and their partners arrived in everything from a semi-trailer to a horse and carriage and a T-bucket hotrod.

As well, there was the usual smattering of American muscle, including Mustangs and Chevs, and Aussie classics.

The students and their partners stepped out on to the red carpet as the sun slowly set behind them, walking proudly into the High School auditorium.

The red carpet was also busy at St John’s with the students also posing for a group photograph on the steps of the senior school before retiring to Whip Bird Chapel restaurant for a private function.

On Friday night, it will St Mary’s Catholic College’s turn in Kingaroy, with the first cars due to arrive in Glendon Street from 5:00pm.

Footnote: South Burnett Online apologises that we could not organise a photographer to cover the St John’s celebration for us. Anne was in Sydney for her own High School reunion!
