Speed, inexperience and drunkenness have been blamed for a crash in which four teenagers were injured in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A Toyota Corolla, driven by a 17-year-old Caboolture youth, rolled on Peterson Drive, near Kingaroy, about 5:00am.

The driver and three passengers managed to extricate themselves from the wreck before emergency services arrived at the scene.

Acting Senior Sergeant Brent Gerber, from Kingaroy Police, said the driver wandered away and was found by police about 400m down the road.

When breathtested, he allegedly blew 0.336 BAC – almost seven times the legal limit.

“Early indications suggest the vehicle was speeding,” Acting Snr Sgt Gerber said.

“It was exacerbated by inexperience and the level of intoxication.”

The vehicle was heading towards the D’Aguilar Highway when it left the road and rolled.

The passengers were a 15-year-old Blackbutt boy, an 18-year-old Blackbutt North man and a 17-year-old Nanango woman.

All four were transported to Kingaroy Hospital.

The driver was later airlifted by the SGAS LifeFlight helicopter to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition with a suspected neck injury.

Investigations are continuing.
