Blackbutt Christmas Carnival
The Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club Christmas Carnival will be held at the Blackbutt Community Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt from 6:00pm to 9:00pm this evening. Tonight's carnival will feature two free jumping castles (one for children aged under 6, another children aged 6 to 12) along with lots of food stalls; a licensed bar and live entertainment. Everyone is welcome! Note: Tonight's Carnival will be preceded by Blackbutt's annual Arts & Crafts Fair, which will be held in the Blackbutt Memorial Hall from 12:00 noon to 9:00pm today. The Arts & Crafts Fair is a perfect opportunity to pick up unique, unusual and inexpensive Christmas gifts. The Fair will be officially opened by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington at 2:00pm today; and it will also be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon tomorrow.
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their final monthly exhibition for 2012 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's exhibition will feature artworks from Hivesville artist Shannus O'Sullivan in the Alison Iszlaub Gallery (see example at right). The exhibition will feature many new works from this very popular artist, who's received more than 120 prizes and awards over his career for paintings now held in collections around Australia and in the USA, Asia, England and Germany. The front gallery will feature stained glass, encaustic and pyrographic artworks from Val Usher, Betty Desovich and Gwen Olm; while the Third Gallery will be showing watercolours by Gold Coast artist Neville Logan and fabric collages from his wife Barbara Logan. Meanwhile, children from the Home Schooling Group will be mounting their own show in Kidz Korner. Tonight's opening will also feature great finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Bellbird Vineyards and live music. Admission is $5 and everyone is very welcome to attend! Great Gadgets Expo - Kingaroy
LifeTec Queensland will be holding a "Great Gadgets For Independent Living Expo" at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre at the corner of Kingaroy and Avoca Streets (opposite Super IGA) from 1:00pm onwards today. The Expo will offer information, demonstrations and specialist advice on a wide range of assistive technologies (ie devices that can help people improve their independence and quality of life if they're having difficulty performing everyday tasks). Nanango Christmas Carnival
The Nanango Christmas Carnival will be held at the Nanango Blue Light Hall in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 9:00pm this evening. This year's Carnival will offer face painting for children; Christmas crafts; Lucky Wheels; games and skating. Santa will be arriving at 7:30pm to hand out ice blocks and lollies and pose for photo opportunities. Entry is free and skates can be hired for a gold coin donation. Chat With The Mayor - Kingaroy
South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann will be appearing at Kingaroy Shoppingworld from 10:00am to 1:00pm today so that residents can chat with him about any issues of concern they might have. Today's chat is part of a series that the Mayor has been holding around the region since early September.
Jim McAllister - Kingaroy

Karaoke Night - Proston
The South Burnett Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group will be holding a Karaoke Night with Love 2 Sing at the Golden Spurs Hotel at 25 Blake Street, Proston from 7:00pm until 11:00pm this evening. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 10 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
