Kingaroy Community Christmas Carols
Kingaroy's annual Community Christmas Carols service will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to around 8:30pm tonight. This year's gathering is being presented by the Kingaroy District Ministry Association and several sponsors and will feature performances by several local orchestras and choirs. Food stalls will be operating from 6:00pm along with glowstick sales, soft drinks and other beverages, and the singing will begin at around 7:00pm. Families who want to sit near the front should bring blankets and cushions to sit on (BYO chairs if you want to sit further back). An offering will also be taken up during the program to support the Kingaroy Schools Chaplaincies. As usual, tonight's carols service is a great, completely free, family-friendly night out to which everyone is invited, and you can obtain more details by phoning Felicity on (0423) 617-286 or by emailing her. Note: In the event of rain, the Carols will relocate inside the Town Hall.
The Nativity Of Christ Cantata - Murgon and Wondai
The South Burnett Chorale will be presenting the final two performances of their annual Christmas Charity Concert series - which this year is called "The Nativity Of Christ Cantata" - at the Castra Retirement Home at Coopers Street in Murgon from 2:00pm to 3:30pm; and then again at the Wondai Catholic Church at 60 Bramston Street in Wondai from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. These terrific concerts feature many of our region's very best singers providing stirring and heart-warming family entertainment that the Chorale's members have practiced and sweated over for months beforehand - and they do it all for local charities. Each concert lasts for around 75 minutes and admission is just $8 for adults (which includes afternoon tea or a light supper, depending on which concert you go to) while children under 12 are admitted free. Everyone is welcome and if you've never been to a South Burnett Chorale Christmas Concert before (or have always promised yourself that you would), then make this year the year you start Christmas the right way by enjoying the magic only a live performance can provide. More details? Contact the Chorale on (07) 4162-1332 or send them an email.
Nanango Community Christmas Carols
Nanango's annual Community Christmas Carols will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango at 6:30pm this evening. This free event is put on by Nanango's combined churches and everyone is very welcome. A special feature of tonight's gathering will be the presentation of a Xmas food hamper to Centrecare for distribution to local families in need, and donations of non-perishable food items would be gratefully accepted. You can also view the town's Christmas Tree display at the Nanango Baptist Church in Mount Stanley Road between 11:30am and 2:00pm. Home-made Christmas decorations and small gifts will also be on sale at the church, and proceeds will go to the Nanango and Yarraman schools chaplaincy programme.
Nanango Christmas Tree Festival
The 4th annual Nanango Christmas Tree Festival will conclude today at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street. The Festival display can be viewed from 2:00pm to 6:00pm today before the Community Carols service gets underway at 6:30pm (see entry further above). The Festival - a display of Christmas trees - helps raise money for local school chaplaincy programs. Entry is by donation and afternoon tea will be available for $4 too. Everyone is welcome!
