Arts Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery, on the roundabout at Wondai, will be announcing the winner of the $3000 Mayor's Acquisitive Art Prize at the official opening of their latest exhibition tonight. There are a total of $8000 in cash prizes to be won! As usual, tonight's opening, from 6:00pm, will also feature hot and cold finger foods and punch, glasses of wine available from Nuova Scuola, live music and lots of fun socialising. The Ration Shed Anniversary - Cherbourg

BESS Information Session - Kumbia
The team from X-Elio will be available to answer questions from residents from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon at Kumbia Memorial Hall about the proposed South Burnett Battery Storage System project. Antfest 2024 - Kingaroy
5:30pm to around 7:00pm this evening. Antfest is the annual exhibition of works by members of the Jumping Ant Arts collective, and there'll be everything from watercolours and linocuts to ceramics, silk scarves and digital artworks filling the gallery spaces. Everyone is welcome and there's no entry fee. Refreshments will be provided. Works will remain on display until October 30.
Cheap As Chips Night - Kumbia
The Kumbia Hall Committee will be holding another of their monthly Cheap As Chips nights at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's theme is "Hawaiian Nights" and in addition to a great dinner of "tropical" foods there'll also be a trivia competition, raffles, a lucky door prize and a licensed bar. Cooyar Campdraft
Day 1 of the three-day Cooyar Campdraft will kick off at 5:30am today at Cooyar Showgrounds. Today's events will include rounds of the Open Draft, Maiden and Maiden 4 Maiden. Action will continue on Saturday and Sunday, with a Bullock Ride feature on Saturday night.
Tableland Hall Dinner Deadline
The Tableland Public Hall Committee and the Murgon Rotary Club will be hosting their annual fundraising dinner - to support the hall - from 6:00pm on Wednesday, October 9, at 459 Crownthorpe Road, Tablelands. There'll be a three-course meal, lucky door prize and raffles, and a licensed bar will be running (cash only). Cost is $30 but RSVPs are required by today as limited seats are available. Friday Night At The Shed
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting, or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer. Nanango & District Darts Association will be hosting three days of competitions this weekend at it clubhouse at 12 George Street, Nanango. Tonight is a Pot Luck Doubles ($5.00 entry) from 6:30pm. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Alcoholics Anonymous - Murgon
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for membership. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. Manar Park Farewell Weekend - Boondooma
The Blinco family is hosting a four-day Kings Birthday Farewell Weekend at the Manar Park off-road recreational park. The Blincos' lease is up on October 28 and this could be the last major event held at the facility. There will a 4×4 tour, skid pan, barrel races, and Flamin’ Grillas will be on site to offer breakfast, lunch and dinner on each day. A bonfire and music will be happening on Sunday night to coincide with the NRL grand final. As part of the celebrations a Monster Truck will be at the park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to take people for $5 rides.
