South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Community Flood Recovery Information Meetings - Kumbia and Ironpot
The South Burnett Regional Council in conjunction with the Federal and State Governments and regional organisations will be holding the fifth and sixth of a series of Community Flood Recovery Information Meetings at the Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 6:30am to 8:30am this morning; and again at the Ironpot Hall in Ironpot from 6:30pm to 9:00pm tonight. The purpose of the meetings is to provide the latest information about the assistance that's now available (eg: loans, grants and/or support) for people who were affected by the Australia Day weekend floods. Apart from the Council there'll also be representatives on hand from the Department of Communities, Farm Financial Counsellors from DAFF, BIEDO Grant Angels, Centrelink and Centacare to answer questions and make appointments to assist. A cuppa and breakfast will also be supplied at the morning meeting (light refreshments at the evening meeting) and anyone affected by the recent floods - or who knows of someone who was - is very welcome. POSTPONED: Due to Monday's heavy rains, both of these meetings have now been postponed. New dates will be set in the near future.
Mayor's 2013 Flood Appeal Stall
A stall to collect donations for the Mayor's 2013 Flood Appeal will be operating at Kingaroy Shoppingworld all this week. The Appeal is a fundraiser for South Burnett flood victims and is being run in conjunction with the Red Earth Community Foundation, a South Burnett charitable foundation. Alternately - if you'd like to contribute but won't be going to Shoppingworld this week - you can donate to the Flood Appeal by phoning (07) 4189-9100; over the counter at any SBRC customer service centre; by downloading and returning this donation form; or online through the FRRR's website (make sure you select "South Burnett Red Earth Assistance Fund" from the "FRRR hosted donation accounts" drop-down). All donations are tax-deductible.
Open Orchestra Evening - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be holding an Open Orchestra Evening at the Uniting Church Hall in Alford Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to around 8:30pm tonight. The Open Orchestra is open to all South Burnett musicians regardless of age or experience, and provides a rare chance to practice with professional musicians. A series of Open Orchestra evenings has been arranged by the SBCO this year as part of a program to grow the region's musicians and there's no charge to attend. More details? Public Forum - Yarraman
Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio and councillors from Toowoomba Regional Council will be holding a public forum at the Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street at 6:00pm this evening to receive submissions on community priorities and visions for the future, as well as provide information about community funding opportunities and Toowoomba Regional Council's programs for the current financial year, as well as the longer term. Refreshments will be served at 6:00pm and the forum will get underway at 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome, but to assist with catering an RSVP would be appreciated. Timbertown Woodworkers Group Meeting - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers Group will be holding their regular Wednesday meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:00am until around 4:00pm today. Music Explorers Meeting - Wondai
The Music Explorers group will be meeting at The Studio behind the Wondai Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Wondai from 7:00pm to 10:00pm this evening. This informal group allows amateur musicians and anyone with a love of music to get together to practice, play together, share tips and learn. New members are always very welcome! Wednesday Wipe-Outs Ten Pin Bowling - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Lively 50s&60s Social Group will be holding a Wednesday Wipe-Outs 10-Pin Bowling Morning at the Kingaroy Ten Pin Bowling Alley at 4 Irvins Street from 9:15am this morning (bowling starts at 9:30am sharp). The cost is $15.60 for three games plus a $2.00 fee that will be used towards prize monies and trophies which will be handed out out at the end of the season. Nanango Blue Light Open Night
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular Wednesday Open Night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Young people are welcome to come along for skating lessons, homework help (during school term), games and access to the computer room. Entry is $2. More details? Booie Hall Association AGM
The Booie Hall Association - the people responsible for the regular Booie Hall Dances - will be holding their Annual General Meeting at the Hall at 6:00pm this evening. All interested people are welcome to attend. Note: This meeting was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but had to be postponed due to unforseen circumstances.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with $800 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Summer Soccer 7s - Kingaroy
The weekly summer Soccer 7s competition will be held at 6:30pm this evening at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy (ie the Kingaroy soccer grounds). The competition is open to players of all skill levels and abilities, and players who weren't registered for the 2012 season can pay a $25 social registration which will cover them until December 31. There will also be a $50 team nomination fee available, as well as a nightly match fee of $5 each to play. Everyone is welcome! More details? Alcoholics Anonymous - Wondai
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths and hopes with each other to help solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, and AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution. Indoor Bowls & Cards Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be hosting indoor bowls and cards (500) competitions at its centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy between 9:00am and 4:00pm today.
