64th Annual Cooyar Show
The 64th Annual Cooyar Show will be held at the Cooyar Showgrounds on Rangemore Road in Cooyar from 8:00am this morning through until very late tonight. The Cooyar Show marks the start of the South Burnett's agricultural show season and it's always a really great family day out. Special attractions at this year's event include a Smash Up Derby; an evening Bull Ride; the Flair Freestyle Motorcycle Riders; and the Crack Up Sisters comedy duo. There'll also be a full day of entertainment for the whole family including 5-for-$5 amusement rides, free face painting for the kids, a big chainsaw competition, market stalls, show bags and music, as well as the usual hotly-contested horse, stud cattle and pavilion programs. The afternoon will also feature Poddy Rides and Mutton Bustin' and everything will be capped off by the traditional Giant Fireworks Display at about 9:00pm. A licensed bar will be operating throughout the day and the Show's well-stocked food canteen and BBQ are guaranteed to satisfy any hunger pangs. The Show's official opening will occur at 12:30pm and this year - as a new addition to the program - there'll also be a great Ute Muster. Entry to this year's Cooyar Show is still just $15 for adults and $5 for high school students (primary school aged children are free) and everyone is welcome along! For more information and/or show schedules, phone Show secretary Marge on (07) 4692-6164 or the Show Society's office (on Show day only) on (07) 4692-6281.
5th Annual Reef & Beef Extravaganza - Ironpot
The 5th annual Reef & Beef Extravaganza will be held at Ironpot Hall in Ironpot from 5:30pm onwards this evening. This all-you-can-eat event will offer guests as many prawns, oysters, Moreton Bay bugs, scallops, whole cooked Red Emperor and pan-fried reef fish fillets, rib steaks and BBQ rib fillet steaks as they can pack in, along with salads, vegies and dessert. There'll also be a licensed bar operating too, plus live entertainment. It's been a year since Ironpot last digested a Reef & Beef Night but it'll be a fantastic event (as it always is). And if you'd rather be driven than drive the 55km from town, there'll be a bus running from Kingaroy for a small extra fee. Tickets are $60 per head for adults, $40 for high school students and $15 for primary school students and you can book them by phoning Sonya on (07) 4164-8142 (ahrs) or (0428) 648-142, or Hook on (0428) 648-244. Be quick, though! Numbers for this popular community fund-raiser have risen every year (from 140 in 2009 to more than 300 last year) and places are limited. Need a memory-jogger? Want to publicise it at the office to get a group together? Then you can get a PDF flyer about this year's Reef & Beef Extravaganza you can print off and put on your fridge or noticeboard by clicking here.
Evolution Solar South Burnett Soccer 7s - Kingaroy

This year organisers expect there'll be upwards of 45 mens and womens teams competing for more than $2,000 in prize monies and locals are also very welcome to form a team and join in! Today's games will get underway at around 9:40am and will run to about 6:20pm. Admission to the Soccer Sevens is 100% free for spectators and there'll be a licensed bar and full catering operating at the grounds too. The carnival will conclude with finals matches tomorrow. You can read more about it on this page of our website. You can also find out more information at www.footballsouthburnett.com.au.
