Youth group Iron & Clay brought their S.C.R.U.M. mental health and life-skills program to Kingaroy last Friday for a special one-off performance for local high school students.
Year 11 and 12 students from all South Burnett high schools were invited to attend the event, held in the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre at Kingaroy State High School.
S.C.R.U.M. stands for “Students Connecting, Responding and Uniting with Music”.
The high-energy event – which included a free lunch – focussed on mental health awareness, especially about building resilience and improving well-being.
It was brought to the South Burnett by the South Burnett Regional Council with grant funding through the State Government’s “Tackling Regional Adversity through Connected Communities” (TRACC) program.
Iron & Clay began as a Christian RnB and dance-pop band in NSW in the early 1990s.
Since them, they have been bringing their music and dancing to schools and festivals throughout Australia, with a changing line-up of young performers.
About 600 students from Kingaroy, Nanango and Murgon State High Schools, St Mary’s Catholic College and St John’s Lutheran School attended the Kingaroy event.
