55 Million Years Ago – Murgon’s unique fossil museum and art gallery in Macalister Street – has unveiled its latest exhibition.

Visitors gathered at the gallery recently for the official opening and to enjoy an “elegant afternoon tea” organised by the volunteer team to mark the changeover of works.

As well as sipping from fine china, the visitors had the opportunity to browse the latest artwork on display (all for sale) and a stunning piece by Glenda Geraghty (unfortunately, not for sale).

Glenda, who was one of the moving forces behind the establishment of the 55 Million Years Ago, has obviously been hiding her skills!

Visitors could also see some of the updated attractions in the museum, including new display cases and a model of an extinct marsupial lion.

The gallery, which fills the southern end of the complex, changes the artworks on display every two months.

Vikki Stewart, from Lightning Tree Wines at Goomeri, was offering an alternative to “tea”
Gallery volunteers Jan Taylor and Leo Geraghty were working hard behind the scenes
Trevor and Linda Elkins, from Barlil, were ready to enjoy afternoon tea
Karen Chambers and Marilyn Dionysius, both from Murgon
Wondai Art Gallery president Elaine Madill with Linda Staines
Jane and John Walduck, from Murgon, enjoyed a small sample of the Lightning Tree wine
