The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association – the group behind the popular Roy Emerson Museum at Blackbutt – has launched a campaign to raise $100,000 by September 30.

The group wants to raise the money to shift and then renovate an historic building linked to the timber industry from Jimna to Blackbutt.

They have a dream to turn the former Jimna Store Shed into a Timber Exhibition Hall to complement the existing historic precinct at the Blackbutt rail trail head.

The group began its fundraising last year, hosting several events including the “Sawdust In Our Veins” dinner in August and a film premiere in November.

The Timber Exhibition Hall would house memorabilia linked to the Timbertowns’ proud forestry and sawmilling history and the many families linked to it.

Donations over $50 will be acknowledged but all donations both big and small have been invited:

  • Bronze – $50 – buy a paver
  • Silver – $500 – brass plaque
  • Gold – Honour Board inside the building
  • Platinum – Honour Board inside the building

The association has also set up a GoFundMe page online to make donations even easier

It is also looking for volunteers to help make the project a reality.
