Fifteen local not-for-profit groups will receive a total of more than $1.1 million in funding from latest round of the State Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

The results of applications to Round 121 – a “Super Round” with grants of up to $100,000 available – were announced on Monday.

Local recipients were:

  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Junior Rugby League – Buy buses – $99,950
  • Cherbourg Wellbeing Indigenous Corporation – Buy a demountable building – $100,000
  • Kilkivan Show And Campdraft Association – Construct a shed – $75,916
  • Kingaroy Lodge Inc – Refurbish and renovate facility – $99,031
  • Kingaroy Men’s Shed – Construct shed and do the electrical fitout – $100,000
  • Kumbia and District Memorial School of Arts – Paint facility – $29,680
  • Nanango Group SES – Buy a vehicle – $95,996
  • Nanango Soccer Club – Install field lighting – $99,995
  • Nanango Theatre Company – Upgrade facility – $100,000
  • Proston District Golf Club – Upgrade amenities block – $24,600
  • QCWA Kingaroy Branch – Upgrade facility – $76,794.19
  • South Burnett PCYC – Resurface basketball courts – $66,100
  • South Burnett Saints AFL Club – Upgrade facility and install coldroom – $99,984
  • South Burnett Wine Industry Association – Attend Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, purchase coldroom and equipment – $19,208
  • Wondai and District Band Association – Buy musical instruments – $15,805

The “Super Round” marked the 30th anniversary of the grants program.

Since it was established in 1994, the GCBF has provided more than $1.188 billion to communities.

Due to the increased interest in the “Super Round”, the State Government topped up the original grant allocation of $30 million with an extra $3 million.

Community groups who missed out in this round have been invited to apply for Round 122, the final round for this 2024.

Round 122 offers grants of up to $35,000 grants and opened on Monday (September 9) and closes on November 30..

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington congratulated the successful applicants.

“Our groups have excelled themselves in this funding round,” she said.

“Congratulations to these groups on their grant success and I look forward to hearing about the progress of their important projects.”
