Rescue helicopters were called four times to Boondooma over the Easter Weekend to help five people injured in separate incidents at the Manar Park off-road recreational venue.

On Saturday:

  • A 11-year-old boy suffered a suspected concussion after he fell from his bike while riding with family and friends; he was airlifted by RACQ LifeFlight on Saturday morning to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
  • A teenage boy was treated for a significant leg injury after he collided with another rider; he was airlifted by RACQ LifeFlight on Saturday afternoon to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition. Another teenage boy was transported by road ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital with an arm injury.

On Sunday:

  • A man aged in his 20s suffered serious head, chest and back injuries after falling from his motorbike.
  • A man aged in his 30s suffered arm and shoulder injuries in a buggy rollover; these latest two patients were airlifted together by RACQ LifeFlight on Sunday afternoon to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
  • A man aged in his 40s was airlifted by QGAir on Sunday afternoon in a serious but stable condition with spinal injuries to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Manar Park was hosting one of its biggest weekends of the year, “Easter At Manar”, which, ironically, was also marketed by organisers as a fundraising event for LifeFlight.
