South Burnett Regional Council is inviting residents to submit nominations for the region’s 2027 Australia Day Awards.
The awards will be presented on Sunday, January 24, at Kingaroy Town Hall.
“The South Burnett Australia Day Awards celebrate the community’s opportunity to recognise outstanding groups and individuals who have shown remarkable dedication and hard work to enhance the quality of life for our region in 2026,” Mayor Kathy Duff said.
“These awards showcase the many outstanding contributions made by those who are nominated.”
The 2027 award categories are:
- South Burnett Young Citizen of the Year
- South Burnett Junior Cultural Award
- South Burnett Senior Cultural Award
- South Burnett Junior Sportsperson Award
- South Burnett Senior Sportsperson/Sports Administrator/Coach/Official Award
- South Burnett Community Event or Community Organisation of the Year
- South Burnett Volunteer of the Year
- South Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award
There are also Local Achiever Awards, open to all ages:
- Blackbutt / Benarkin
- Hivesville / Proston
- Kingaroy
- Kumbia
- Maidenwell / Bunya Mountains
- Murgon
- Nanango
- Wondai / Tingoora
- Wooroolin / Memerambi
The South Burnett Citizen of the Year award will be selected from the Senior Cultural, Senior Sportsperson / Sports Administrator / Coach / Official, Volunteer and Local Achiever nominations.
