A 28-year-old man has been fined for allegedly “drink riding” an e-scooter along First Avenue in Kingaroy last week.
Police stopped the man after they spotted him riding without a helmet about 3:30pm last Thursday.
He was breath-tested, and allegedly recorded a BAC of 0.108.
A police spokesperson said the Kingaroy man was issued an $863 fine for mid-range drink riding and $518 fine for failing to wear a helmet.
He reportedly had only bought the e-scooter just one day before the incident.

Police have encouraged users of personal mobility devices (PMDs) such as e-scooters to familiarise themselves with updated Queensland legislation.
- PMDs are not permitted on roads where the speed limit is more than 50km/h
- PMDs are permitted on footpaths, shared paths, bike paths, local streets and on-road bike lanes where the speed limit is 50km/h or less
- The speed limit for PMDs is 12km/h on footpaths and shared paths, unless otherwise signed
- PMD riders must stick to the 25km/h speed limit on bike paths and roads
- A helmet must be worn when riding
- Doubling is prohibited
- PMD riders must be at least 12 years old; 12 to 15-year-olds must be supervised
- Do not drink and ride
- Adhere to the general road rules
- Warn pedestrians with your bell when passing
