Kingaroy’s Division 1 men’s soccer team just missed out on their chance at a spot in the Grand Finals of the Darling Downs Community competition after a tense Preliminary Final played on Sunday in Toowoomba.
At full-time, Kingaroy were locked 2-all with Wests Wanderers at the Willowburn Football Club’s grounds.
This meant the game went to a nail-biting penalty shootout which Wests won 5-3.
Kingaroy’s goal scorers during the main game were Tyler Henderson and Braxton Collin.
The pair also kicked two of the penalty shots with the third was slotted home by Phillip Griffith.
It’s been a big season for the Division 1 team, who finished in second spot on the ladder ahead of the finals.
Kingaroy’s Division 2 team finished in third spot but were eliminated in the semi-finals.
