A teenage boy was flown to hospital after a quad bike rolled near Kilkivan on Wednesday morning.

A QAS spokesperson said the person suffered facial, chest and abdominal injuries in the incident, which occurred on a private property near the intersection of Thomas and Kilkivan-Tansey roads.

Emergency services were called about 9:00am.

A call then went out to the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter, which landed in a paddock alongside the creek.

QAS paramedics and LifeFlight staff treated the teenager at the scene.

He was then flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said it was believed the boy had been riding the quad bike along a creek bank, when he lost control, causing the vehicle to roll.

His upper body was crushed, before the quad bike continued rolling and landed, upside down, in the creek.

The teenager was able to raise the alarm by himself.
