Applications for a special educational bursary for older women in the South Burnett will close on November 30.

The Barambah Branch of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) is offering a $1000 bursary for 2020 to any woman resident in the South Burnett over the age of 30.

The aim of the bursary is to help a woman expand her skills in a broad and practical way to enhance herself, her business or her community.

“We are very excited to hear from women in all walks of life,” QRRWN spokesperson Karen Seiler said.

“We want women in established business, entrepreneurial start-ups, agriculture, community workers, in fact women across the board to apply.”

The successful applicant will be announced by January 2020.

QRRRWN State president Melissa Barnett said the Barambah Branch bursary was independent of the State organisation and the idea and funds to support it comes directly from local QRRRWN members.

“The three pillars of QRRRWN are to connect, develop and inspire and I think the Barambah branch bursary does this admirably. We are very proud to be able to support women financially as well as educationally at a local level, where it really makes a difference to a community,” Melissa said.

The Red Earth Community Foundation will disburse the funds on behalf of QRRRWN Barambah Branch.
