Petition Seeks Information Reward

North Queensland MP Rob Katter has sponsored an official e-Petition to State Parliament seeking a reward for information in regards to the disappearance of Jack McClennan in 2024.

Jack, 27, was last seen between 8:00pm and 10:00pm on October 4, 2024, walking in the Ficks Crossing area.

Soon afterwards, items of Jack’s clothing and a wallet were found by searchers in the Ficks Crossing and Murgon areas.

Extensive searches of areas between Wondai and Murgon, and extending to Kinbombi Falls near Goomeri, were conducted by police, SES and community volunteers, friends and family members over the following months.

Claims alleging foul play linked to Jack’s disappearance have swirled for nearly two years on social media.

These posts have named alleged drug users in the Wondai and Murgon areas although Queensland police have repeatedly said there are no “persons of interest” connected to Jack’s disappearance.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to attract donations to fund an independent investigation into the disappearance.

Two podcast series have also been released: “What Became Of Jack?”, with ABC journalist Rob Burgin, is part of the ABC’s “Unravel” true crime podcast series; “Ficks Crossing 4606”, by former detective Graeme Crowley, was released in 2025.

A photograph of Jack, allegedly taken by a friend at Ficks Crossing hours before his disappearance, was also published by the ABC.

Jack’s disappearance is now the subject of a Coronial investigation.

The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that Jack McLennan was reported missing from the South Burnett region on 4 October 2024 and remains missing.

Despite the significant passage of time and ongoing investigative efforts, Jack McLennan’s disappearance remains unresolved. His continued absence has caused significant distress to his family and community, who continue to seek answers.

Petitioners note that in long-term missing person cases, measures encouraging the provision of new public information can assist investigations and generate actionable leads.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the government to consider a reward for credible information leading to the location and recovery of Jack McLennan through existing Queensland Police Service reward frameworks and processes.

The petitioners further request that the House review the consistency, transparency, and accessibility of existing reward consideration pathways relating to long-term missing person cases, including appropriate review processes, where such measures may assist in obtaining new information relevant to resolving the case.

The principal petitioner is Jessica McWilliams, from Augustine Heights.

The petition, which had attracted 914 signatures by August 9, follows a visit to the South Burnett by the Robbie Katter, leader of Katter’s Australia Party, in June this year.
