The Red Earth Community Foundation is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified community members interested in joining the not-for-profit organisation’s Board.

The foundation is a philanthropic organisation which organises the South Burnett Community Leadership Program and the Red Pitch crowdfunding event.

It has also been involved in drought relief and mentoring programs.

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday, February 8.

Once appointed, members of the Board remain in the position until they choose to resign or retire, or other circumstances defined within the Australian Charities and Not For Profits Commission (ACNC) that require a resignation.

The Board meets monthly by teleconference or in person, and encourages the use of technology to support members remaining actively engaged and involved in the various initiatives and responsibilities.

Board members should have current or recent expertise in one or more of the following areas: financial planning, marketing, business administration and / or social enterprise.

They should also satisfy the criteria defined by the ACNC for a “responsible person”, ie. act with reasonable care and diligence, act honestly and fairly in the best interests of the charity and for its charitable purposes, not misuse their position or information they gain, disclose actual or potential conflicts of interest, ensure that the financial affairs of the charity are managed responsibly, and not allow the charity to operate while it is insolvent.

More information can be provided by contacting John Carey on 0448-416-327, Georgie Somerset on 0428-390-984 or Karen Seiler on 0409-685-884.
