Alicia Pidgeon and Cr Ros Heit give Mick Laughton the once-over on Friday morning

October 19, 2018

Murgon’s third annual Pink Ribbon Breakfast, held on Friday morning, has raised more than $6000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Organiser Alicia Pidgeon said it had been an excellent morning.

“We really loved the support we received,” she said. “People were coming and going all the time.”

Four Murgon businesses banded together to host the fundraiser: Alicia’s Spa and Hairworx, Carney’s Feed Store, Murgon Moto & More, and Remko Engineering.

The highlight was Mick Laughton, from Remko, losing his locks and beard after $5000 was raised for the cause.

Alicia, with a bit of help from Cr Ros Heit, made short work of Mick’s transformation.

About 40 to 50 people came along to enjoy sausages in pink bread, cooked by Mark Smith and “Blue” Carney, and pink cupcakes.

There were also pink ribbon tattoos and hair colouring for a gold coin donation.

If you didn’t make it to the Pink Ribbon Breakfast, donations can still be dropped off at any of the four businesses.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
