March 25, 2018

The bravery of the three men who rescued a young boy from Saturday’s horrific house fire tragedy in Kingaroy will be appropriately recognised, the Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police said on Sunday.

Senior Sergeant David Tierney told media the the men simply didn’t give up, knocking on windows until a young boy’s head popped up at a side window.

The four-year-old child was rushed to Kingaroy Hospital with initial fears he had airway burns, but fortunately he had inhaled smoke but had no other physical injuries.

He has now been released back into the care of relatives.

Snr Sgt Tierney said he would now “fill out the paperwork” to ensure the three men who rescued the child were recognised.

He confirmed the ages of the fire victims: A 47-year-old male, a two-year-old child and an 11-month-old baby.

They were all located in the gutted loungeroom of the home.

A woman, believed to be the mother of the children, is still in Kingaroy Hospital being treated for shock.
