Larissa Rose from QRFA and Charles Burke from AgForce have announced a new partnership between the renewable fuels industry and broadacre agriculture

The Queensland Renewable Fuels Association (QRFA) announced on Wednesday it has signed a partnership agreement with AgForce, Queensland’s peak organisation for broadacre primary producers.

Both peak industry associations will come together to broaden the dialogue between the renewable fuel and agriculture sectors.

AgForce CEO Charles Burke said renewable fuels provided an economic opportunity for Queensland grain growers by giving growers more options when selling their products.

“The growth of renewable fuels could open up a new market for sorghum, and mean growers don’t have to rely solely on traditional domestic and export markets,” Mr Burke said.

“The formation of this partnership is timely given this week’s announcement of a $26 million expansion of the Dalby ethanol bio refinery, boosting production capacity by 24 million litres to 100 million litres a year.”

The two groups say the new partnership will help the agriculture and renewable fuels industries work together to pursue their common vision of building stronger, more diversified opportunities for Queensland agriculture.

“It is pivotal that QRFA work alongside all parts of the renewable fuels industry value chain,” QRFA Managing Director Larissa Rose said.

“We value the importance of our partnership agreement with AgForce and look forward to building a long-term industry alignment with them to support both agriculture, ag-waste solutions and feedstock production”.

QRFA and AgForce said a key aim of the partnership was to work together to support growth in the agricultural sector through education, as well as examining potential new markets from renewable fuel production.
