Goomeri and Kilkivan will be moved from Level 4 to Level 3 water restrictions in the near future after recent rainfall boosted both towns’ water supplies.

Gympie Division 6 Cr Hilary Smerdon said residents in both towns will receive a letter in the next few weeks which will outline the changes from the Level Four to Level Three, and provide further information on permitted and banned activities.

“Council appreciates the effort that residents made when tighter water restrictions were in place,” Cr Smerdon said.

“We encourage all residents to continue to be mindful of their water usage, particularly as we head into the drier winter months.”

Amamoor and Kandanga will also be downgraded from Level 4 to Level 3.

Gympie, Imbil, Cooloola Cove, Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach will remain on Level One restrictions.

“This change is a good opportunity for residents, businesses and visitors in the region to be aware of the activities permitted under whatever water restriction level applies in that town,” Cr Smerdon said.

“If you are not sure, get in contact with Council.”

Further information on permitted activities under each water restriction level can be found on Gympie Council’s website or by calling 1300 307-800.
