Kingaroy Swimming Pool will reopen on January 28 … hopefully, for the rest of this year’s swimming season.

The pool was closed on December 4 after Council staff detected a hidden water leak into the pool, which made it difficult to maintain proper chlorine and water levels.

The pool was briefly reopened for one day on December 6 for a school swimming carnival, but has remained closed for the past eight weeks while Council engineers tried to track down the cause of the problem.

On Tuesday Mayor Keith Campbell said he’d been advised all the pool’s systems have now been given full maintenance checks.

While the precise cause of the problem still hadn’t been identified, Council staff believed it was likely the maintenance work had fixed the issue.

“Our staff have been giving the pool a thorough going over,” the Mayor said.

“Some staff were even working on the pool on Christmas Day.”

The Council also brought in a public swimming pool expert from Brisbane to look at the problem, as well as local plumbers.

The Mayor said he was very conscious that pool users would like to see the facility reopened as quickly as possible, so it will resume normal operations this coming Saturday.

Staff will keep an eye on the pool to see if the problem reoccurs, but he was hopeful the issue had now been solved.

Mayor Campbell said the Council greatly appreciated the public’s patience while the pool was closed.

  1. Oh dear…. what did you really mean to say?

I quote from the above article…”
“The Council also brought in a public swimming pool expert from Brisbane to look at the problem, as well as local plumbers.”

Why would the expert want to look at the local plumbers?
