More than 100 competitors – ranging in age from 3 to 63 – took part in the recent International Sports Karate Association (ISKA) mixed martial arts competition held at Taabinga State School Hall.

The tournament was Round 4 of ISKA’s Queensland competition and entrants came from all over Australia, as well as strong contingent from the South Burnett.

Organiser Jeff French said the tournament provided an opportunity for local competitors to pit themselves against visitors ahead of State competitions.

He said this was the second time ISKA had held a round in Kingaroy, and it was already outgrowing its venue.

“We are already planning for next year and we are starting to look around at other possible venues as we have probably now outgrown Taabinga,” he said.

Martial arts styles on display included karate, kick boxing and taekwondo.
