The South Burnett Regional Council expects Gordonbrook Dam will overtop the spillway during the next 24 hours.

It is expected the overflows will be minor and will not activate the Emergency Action Plan for the dam.

The level is being closely monitored and Council will notify downstream landholders if the situation changes.

Water Supply Minister Mark Bailey says controlled releases will be made from Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine dams on Friday night because of high inflows of water during the day.

He said he had been assured by SEQwater that South-Wast Queensland’s dam levels were being closely monitored.

“I’m advised impacts are only expected to relate (from the dam releases) to the closure of minor river crossings,” he said.

The controlled releases are expected expected to continue over the next few days.
