Some of Australia’s best cyclists will be coming to the South Burnett later this month … and local riders have been invited to join in the fun!

Round 3 of the Brisbane Camperland Road Team Series will be raced in Kumbia (the “Tour de Kumbia”) on Saturday, June 21 and Kingaroy (the “Tour de Kingaroy”) on Sunday, June 22.

Three South Burnett Community Rides – open to all local riders of all abilities – will be run in conjunction with the races on the Sunday.

The community rides, presented by the South Burnett Regional Council, will be run on three courses (see below) before the Tour de Kingaroy.

The Community Rides were held for the first time last year and were very popular with those who participated.

Funds raised will go to the Mayor’s Community Trust to assist local charities.

The Tour de Kumbia and Tour de Kingaroy will be contested by 18 teams of six riders (a total of 108 riders).

The South Burnett events are part of a five-round series held throughout south-east Queensland. The final round will be held in Brisbane in August.

Teams Series race director Mike Victor said the courses from last year had been modified to challenge the riders further.

“The Tour de Kumbia includes a steep ride up Parkers Road, whilst a three and half kilometre section of dirt in Shellbachs Road, just after they climb up Crawford–Booie Rd, has been included in the Tour de Kingaroy,” he said.

“This section of dirt and these climbs each lap will test the strength and fitness of the riders and will be a deciding factor in the overall result of the two days of competition.”

The Tour De Kingaroy on June 22 has been sponsored by Bill Hull Car Centre.
