A two-day workshop covering “holistic management and tools for flood recovery” will be held later this month at Booubyjan to assist local landholders in their flood recovery efforts.

The workshop has been organised by the Burnett Mary Regional Group, South-East Burnett Landcare and the South Burnett Grazing Network.

It will be led by Rodger Savory, a consultant with Savory Grassland Management.

Topic to be covered include:

  • Property planning to reduce the impact of natural disasters
  • How to start financial planning post flood
  • Land planning to meet your financial plan
  • Strategic fence placement post flood, an opportunity to look at fencing alternatives
  • Build new top soil using regenerative agricultural methods
  • Preventing top soil loss in future flood events

There will be opportunities for discussions and a “Q&A” session with Rodger Savory, who has more than 25 years’ experience using holistic agricultural management techniques.

The workshop will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the Booubyjan Hall at 9397 Burnett Highway, Booubyjan.

Cost is $20 per enterprise (two people), and bookings are essential for catering purposes.

To RSVP, contact Vikki Evans on (07) 4169-0720 or by email before April 19.
