Are you puzzled by the concept of “carbon farming”? Then this is the workshop for you!

Soil scientists, agronomists and ecologists from the Queensland University of Technology, University of Queensland, Department of Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts; and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry will be holding a forum from 8:30am–1:30pm on September 12 at the Bjelke-Petersen Research Station in Kingaroy.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Livestock Emissions
  • Vegetation Management
  • Regrowth Methodology
  • Nitrous Oxide Management, and
  • Soil Carbon

Queensland Murray-Darling Committee Climate Change Officer Rhonda Toms-Morgan will explain what the Carbon Farming Initiative is, how the carbon market will function, and facilitate discussion between the guest speakers and the audience on how primary producers may participate in the CFI.

Organisers say there will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

The forum is free, and morning tea and lunch will be provided.
