Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening a particularly speciai art exhibition from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra at 6:00pm this evening. The exhibition - "Framing Conflict: Iraq And Afghanistan" - features 30 small paintings, 3 large paintings and two photographs taken by war artists Lyndell Brown and Charles Green, who were commissioned by the War Memorial in 2007 to tour the Middle East and Aghanistan and capture the experiences of Australian troops deployed there. Tonight's exhibition will also be complemented by a display of militaria from the Wondai RSL in the third gallery. Dress is after-five semi formal (guests can also wear medals if eligible) and in addition to finger foods, wines from Crane Wines will be available for tastings and purchases. Admission to tonight's opening is free and the exhibition will remain on display at the Gallery through until Anzac Day (April 25th).
Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Nanango Show Ball
The Nanango Show Society will be holding its annual Nanango Show Ball and crowning its 2012 Miss Showgirl, Miss Teen Showgirl and Miss Junior Showgirl at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 8:00pm onwards this evening. The Show Ball is the traditional curtain-raiser for the annual Nanango Show (which will be held on April 13th and 14th this year). Tonight's Ball will feature a great hot supper, a licensed bar and live entertainment by The Commodores. There'll also be a lucky door prize. Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. More than $1,000 in jackpots will be on offer. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Too Ezy - Tingoora
Popular South Burnett band Too Ezy will be appearing at the Tingoora Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Tingoora from 7:00pm until late tonight along with The Jones Girls. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4168-5150.
Friday Night Dinner & Social Darts - Nanango
The Nanango and District Darts Association will be holding their regular Friday night social darts games at their club house at the end of George Street, Nanango from 7:15pm onwards this evening. They'll also be offering inexpensive home-cooked dinners from 6:30pm if you want to chow down beforehand (but please phone the club on (07) 4163-1677 to book a seat). The club's licenced bar will be operating too, and both visitors and potential new members are very welcome.
Thank God It's Friday - Kingaroy
The Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets in Kingaroy will be holding a TGIF night from 7:00pm until around 1:00am this evening with Mr Q playing live in the beer garden from 8:30pm. Retro Disco Party - Nanango
DJdirex is presenting a Retro Disco Party at Nanango's Fitzroy Hotel from 8:00pm-11:00pm tonight. The South Burnett's most popular DJ will be spinning platters and there'll be giveaways all night. Admission is free.
‎Nanango State School - Disco
Nanango State School P&C will be running a disco tonight in the School Hall from 5:30pm-8:00pm. There'll be lots of prizes, food stalls with hot dogs, chips, lollies, drinks. Bring you kids along for the first main event of the year and enjoy the groovy "disco" music, and lights. This event is only open to Nanango State School students. Cost is $1 per child.
