2012 Wine & Food In The Park Festival
The 14th annual Wine & Food In The Park Festival will be held at Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am this morning through to 9:00pm tonight. The Festival - which has steadily grown to become the biggest single festival held in the South Burnett Regional Council's area as well as the region's most loved Autumn get-together - will feature all its regular attractions (such as the Giant Wine Tent, PCA Regional Food And Wine Tent, exotic Food Court, wet bar and a jam-packed program of live entertainment) along with several new things including an on-grounds Sample The South Burnett Wine Dinner with Master Of Wine Peter Scudamore-Smith and aerial acrobats (something never seen in the region before). Feature acts on the main stage for 2012 include the internationally renowned Mason Rack Band, the Jahbutu Calypso Band, The Blues Excuse, Bar Room Blues and the Kingaroy State High School Band. The Festival's popular (and usually outrageous!) street performers will also be wending their way through the crowds all day, and there'll also be carnival rides for children on the grounds too. This year there'll also be subsidised buses running from Blackbutt and Murgon to take South Burnett Festival-goers to Memorial Park and back home again, as well as a gold coin donation town bus to take Kingaroy revellers back to six different drop-off points around town (schedules for these can be found on the Festival's website). Admission in 2012 is $15 per head for adults (under-18s can get in for free!). And after the Festival winds down most local entertainment venues in Kingaroy will be holding post-WAFITP parties for revellers who want to carry on into the night. You can find out anything else you'd like to know about this year's Wine & Food In The Park Festival (as well as see YouTube videos of many of the entertainers who'll be appearing there today) on the Festival's website.
Debbie Robinson - Kingaroy
Entertainer Debbie Robinson will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm to 11:30pm this evening. Admission is free. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
54th Annual Proston Show
The 54th annual Proston Show will be held at Proston Showgrounds from early this morning through until late tonight. The Proston Show is always a happy event at the western edge of South Burnett and today's activities will get underway at 8:00am with horse and prime cattle judging and the admission of Ute Muster entries. This will be followed at 8:30am with stud cattle judging and a Championship Dog Show; and then at 9:00am with show jumping, poultry judging and wood events. Other great things to look out for this year include a Shearing Shed Show and farm animals; Cheerio The Clown; a Mini Moto-Cross; Barrel Races; Camel Rides; the Proston Stockman's Classic; Dreamtime Reptiles; a fashion parade; and a Lucky Drop. There'll also be face painting for children and the Show's Fireworks Spectacular at around 7:00pm. And because 2012 is the Australian Year Of The Farmer, the Year Of The Farmer Roadshow will also be making an apperarance. In addition - from 6:00pm until late tonight - the Show Society will be running a BBQ, live music with popular local duo Bruzz and a bar for everyone who wants to party on. Admission to today's Show is $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and $3 for primary school students (under-5s are admitted free). The Festival itself is completely free to attend and there's also free camping available around the hotel if you want to stay overnight. Lots of great food will be available too but no BYO is allowed - you'll need to get your reasonably priced supplies from Kings if you want to party really hard. More details? The long ride will leave the Showgrounds at 7:30am and the short ride will move out at around 8:00am, with both returning to the Showgrounds at around 4:45pm. In the evening, the Ride will be followed by a programme of live entertainment led by popular local country-rock performer Arthur Nettelfield which will run from 7:00pm until around midnight, along with meals and a bar. Admission to the Ride is $20 (which includes the evening entertainment programme) and there'll be overnight camping facilities available at the Showgrounds too.
