Community Farewell For Dorothy Pratt MLA - Kingaroy
A Community Farewell for Dorothy (Dolly) Pratt MLA (pictured at right) will be held at Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room from 6:00pm to 8:00pm this evening to farewell the popular Member For Nanango who's represented a large part of the South Burnett in State Parliament for the last 14 years. Dolly was as born in Coffs Harbour and worked in a wide range of industries including nursing, cattle yards and operating a Kingaroy coffee shop prior to entering State politics. In 1998 she was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly as the member for Barambah representing Pauline Hanson's One Nation. But she left One Nation soon afterwards to sit as an independent. In 2001 her seat was abolished and largely replaced with Nanango (which she won as an independent and has held ever since). She's married with three children and signaled her intention to retire a little earlier this year. Tonight's event will be an opportunity to meet with Dorothy, to thank her, and to allow her to thank you for your support over the past 14 years. The doors will open at 6:00pm and savouries, drinks and tea/coffee will be served. At about 6:30pm locals will be invited to speak on Dorothy's past role, and at 7:00pm Dorothy will address the assembly herself. Everyone is very welcome to attend and admission is completely free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
