Proston Show Ball
The Proston Show Society's annual Proston Show Ball - the traditional curtain-raiser for the Proston Show being staged next Saturday, March 10th - will be held at Proston Town Hall in Proston from 8:00pm until late tonight. A feature of this fully licensed event will be the crowning of the senior and junior 2012 Rural Ambassador and Miss Showgirl. Music will be supplied by David C. and there'll be Old Time and New Vogue numbers, a great supper and lucky door prizes available too! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for high school students (primary school and younger are free) and they'll be available at the door.
Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. More than $1,000 in jackpots will be on offer. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their second monthly exhibition for 2012 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's exhibition will feature a range of artworks from the Wondai Art Group On Sundays in the main gallery;, Kingaroy artist Trish Erkens and others in the front gallery; a historical display of war memorabilia from the Wondai RSL in the rear gallery; and works by students from the Cloyna State School in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great finger foods and wine tastings from a South Burnett winery (in tonight's case, Bellbird Vineyards). Admission is $5 and everyone is very welcome to attend! More details? Friday Night Dinner & Social Darts - Nanango
The Nanango and District Darts Association will be holding their regular Friday night social darts games at their club house at the end of George Street, Nanango from 7:15pm onwards this evening. They'll also be offering inexpensive home-cooked dinners from 6:30pm if you want to chow down beforehand (but please phone the club on (07) 4163-1677 to book a seat). The club's licenced bar will be operating too, and both visitors and potential new members are very welcome.
60's Jukebox - Kingaroy

World Day Of Prayer Service - Kingaroy
Today is the annual World Day of Prayer - an international, inter-denominational, inter-racial prayer movement held on the first Friday in March every year. This year it will be observed in the South Burnett with a free community morning tea at the Kingaroy Town Common Hall in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy at 10:00am. The Wondai & District Diabetes Support Group will be holding its regular monthly meeting at Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai at 2:00pm this afternoon. This will be an afternoon tea meeting and it will feature the presentation of a medal to Vic Richardson from Diabetes Australia for living with diabetes for 50 years. New members are very welcome!
Queensland Rail Bulls Masters Sportsmans Evening - Booie
The Queensland Rail Bulls Masters are paying a flying visit to the South Burnett this weekend, and this evening they'll be special guests at a Sportsmans Evening at the Booie Bello Vista restaurant at the corner of Haydens and Schellbachs Roads at Booie which will get underway at 6:30pm. The dinner is a fundraiser for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation and the $50 per head tickets include beer, wine and a roaming buffet. Matthew Hayden, Jeff Thomson, Graeme Hick, Gordon Tallis and Wendell Sailor will all be putting in an appearance tonight, and Billy J Smith will be the emcee. Bookings? Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month).
