South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
St Joseph's School Fete - Murgon
St Joseph's School in Angel Avenue, Murgon will be holding their annual School Fete from 5:30pm onwards this evening as a fundraiser for the school and parish. In addition to plenty of food and market stalls, there'll be performances by students from all grades from Prep through to Year 7, as well as fun entertainment for the whole family including amusement rides; celebrity dunking of teachers and police; a giant double-lane Big Drop slide and lots more, plus live entertainment. Last year around 350 people attended the Fete and this year organisers are hoping for even more. Everyone is welcome and it's a great family fun night out! Hivesville QCWA Meeting

7th Annual Spots Concert - Nanango
Nanango State High School students will be performing their 7th annual Spots Concert - "Scary Haunted Houses" - at the Nanango State High School community hall in Elk Street, Nanango from 5:00pm tonight (concert starts at 6:00pm). The Spots concert will feature many, many different acts ranging from singers, dancers and tap through to hip hop and bands. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for high school and primary students or $15 for a family (2 adults and unlimited children - under 5s are admitted free). Light refreshments will be available and there'll also be merchandise, raffles, prizes and a photo booth. Everyone is welcome!
Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
The fifth bi-monthly Junior Blue Light Disco for 2014 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the Junior Disco is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID, and in addition to a fun night out tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well. Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Jackpot Karaoke - Wondai
A Jackpot Karaoke Night with Love2Sing will be held at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street in Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. Everyone is welcome along to this fun night of singing and dancing where every singer goes into the draw to win a $70 prize, and admission is free. More details? Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their eighth monthly exhibition for 2014 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting "Sketches" by Zane Stuart in the main gallery - an exhibition featuring two finished paintings of South Burnett scenes plus all the preliminary sketches that went into making the final compositions; "Different Dimensions" by local artist Lindley Hart in the Front Gallery - a collection of works that can be viewed normally or through 3D glasses; new works by the Biggenden Art Group in the Third Gallery; and works by students from Murgon State School in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a South Burnett winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Elsie & Norm's Macbeth - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be staging the first performance of their latest production "Elsie And Norm's Macbeth" at the Nanango Opera House at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango at 7:00pm this evening (performance starts at 7:30pm sharp). The new play is a comedy in two acts by British playwright John Wood about the hilarious misadventures of an elderly couple, Elsie and Norm, who decide to share some “culture” with their neighbours by staging Shakespeare’s “Scottish play” in their lounge room, with some updates to make it snappier. Tonight's performance is a Supper Night and tickets are $20 for adults or $15 concessions. Other performances will be held at the same time and venue tomorrow night and next Friday, September 12 before the season wraps up with a final $25-per-head Wine & Cheese Night on Saturday, September 13. Tickets can be obtained from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre at the Henry Street Energy Museum or by phoning (07) 4171-0100. The Nanango Readers & Writers Group will be holding a meeting at the Country Focus building at 41 Drayton Street, Nanango (opposite Nanango Library) at 9:30am this morning. The NRWG is an informal discussion group for anyone interested in reading and/or writing any form of literature or drama, and it meets on the first and third Fridays of each month. The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
