RUOK Day Free Community Breakfast - Kingaroy
Today is RUOK Day - a day to raise awareness about suicide prevention - and to mark it, a free community breakfast will be held outside Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington's office in Alford Street, Kingaroy between 7:00am and 8:30am this morning. The breakfast is being jointly sponsored by Centacare South Burnett, Stanwell Corporation, the South Burnett Regional Council, QMRE, the South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group and CROW-FM 90.7 and there'll be a range of guest speakers on hand too.
Murgon Business & Development Association Breakfast Meeting
The Murgon Business & Development Association will be holding a breakfast meeting from 6:45am to 8:30am this morning at Reflections Coffee Shop at 115 Lamb Street, Murgon. Sprecial guest speaker Ross Anderson will be passing on tips about how most businesses can reduce their annual energy costs by at least $2000. South Burnett Junior Soccer - Cadets Semi-Finals
The semi-finals in the Cadets age group of the South Burnett Junior Soccer competition will be played tonight at the junior soccer grounds in Kingaroy. At 6:00pm, the Kingaroy Joinery Redbacks will play the Total Building Solution Qld Bears. At 7:30pm, the Burnett Painting Contractor Bears will play the South Burnett Car Sales & Window Tinting Redbacks. Winners of both games will play in the Grand Final on Saturday, September 13.
Thursday Farmers Markets - Kingaroy
Growing The Burnett will be holding their Mid-Week Markets in Kingaroy today. The markets feature fresh food and crafts produced exclusively in the South Burnett, and are held in O'Neill Square in Haly Street, Kingaroy between 1:00pm and 6:30pm. Official Opening Of 2014 Bloomin Beautiful Festival - Blackbutt
The 2014 Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival will be officially opened with a Sponsors and Awards Night at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt this evening. The Festival will be held at the Blackbutt Showgrounds, Blackbutt's CBD and the Blackbutt Rail Trail this coming Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14.
Thursday Night Karate - Nanango
Ko Tora Kai Karate Do will be running its regular Thursday night karate classes at the CWA Hall in Fitzroy Street, Nanango (opposite Foodworks) from 6:00pm to 7:30pm this evening. The classes teach karate and self-defense for children, adults and families. The first class is free and if you decide to join, fees are $7 per class thereafter (discounts apply for families). South Burnett Computer Users Group - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Computer Users Group will be holding their fortnightly meeting from 10:00am today at the Orana Drop-In Centre at MacDiarmid Street in Kingaroy. The SBCUG is a not-for-profit group that aims to help seniors get the most from their computers. Beginners through to more advanced users are catered for with demonstrations and practical lessons. If you're interested in becoming confident using your computer, you're very welcome to come and learn in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The meeting starts at 10:00am with an hour's break for lunch from noon to 1:00pm, and then continues to 4:00pm. An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Nanango Uniting Church in Gipps Street at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!

St Joseph's Bingo - Murgon
St Joseph's Parish Hall in Angel Avenue, Murgon will be holding bingo games from 7:30pm this evening. There'll be $1000 in prizes on offer as well as a canteen and lucky bingo tickets. Proceeds will go to aid St Joseph's school and community works.
Nanango Country Music Muster
The 2014 Nanango Country Music Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from the 11th to the 14th of September this year - and today the Muster will get underway in a low-key way as attendees file into Nanango from all over south-east Queensland to set up camp and prepare for a long weekend of country music fun. The 2014 Muster will kick off with a BBQ and a Campers Walk Up Concert which will start at 10:00am and continue until around 10:00pm tonight. A bar will be operating at the Showgrounds from 10:00am to 12:00 midnight as well. You can get in to attend today's barbie and concert for free, but tomorrow the fee will be $20; and an all-day Saturday pass will be $30 (or $15 if you want to attend from 3:00pm onwards); or you can buy a 4-day pass to the entire event for $45 (young people aged 14 to 17 can get tickets for half price, and under-14s accompanied by an adult can get in for free). Camping will also be available at the Showgrounds and fees range between $6 and $8.50 per night for unpowered or powered sites - but a booking for any camp site is essential because the Muster usually packs the Showgrounds to capacity. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution.
