Lynda Archdall, Brendan Clark and Peter Ainslie get into the mood for Macbeth

August 20, 2014

Shakespeare will probably be spinning in his grave but the audience is certain to be laughing when the Nanango Theatre Company’s latest production hits the stage next month.

The company is putting on the comedy “Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth” written by British playwright  John Christopher-Wood.

It tells the tale of an elderly couple, Elsie and Norm, who decide to share some “culture” with their neighbours by staging Shakespeare’s “Scottish play” in their lounge room.

But Norm decides the classic needs a bit of editing to make it snappier …

Director for the production is Tracy Clark who has been a part of the Nanango Theatre Company for nearly 20 years.

Elsie and Norm will be played by Lynda Archdall and Peter Ainslie, also NTC stalwarts.

Also on stage will be Brendan Clark.

This is the NTC’s second production for 2014 but it won’t be their last.

Auditions start today (Wednesday) for roles in their end-of-year project, two one-act plays.

“Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth” will be staged on September 5-6 and 12-13 at the NTC’s theatre in Elk Street, Nanango.  Doors open at 7:00pm.

Tickets can be purchased from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre.

Working hard behind the scenes will be the Nanango Theatre Company’s Tracy Clark, Brandan Vallerant, Katie Campbell and Sophie Newton (missing from the photo)
