Kingaroy-Taabinga Rotary Club Bookarama - Kingaroy
Fancy a ripper read? The Kingaroy-Taabinga Rotary Club will be holding the second (and final) day of their annual Bookarama at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am through until around 12:00pm this morning. There'll be thousands of great books on sale at bargain prices across all categories, along with a great Lucky Door prize, a raffle and a sausage sizzle if you get peckish while you browse the aisles. All proceeds of today's event will go to aid Rotary's outstanding community work - both here in the South Burnett and internationally - and if you love books, this is something you really shouldn't miss. Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Murgon Art Festival
The second (and final) full day of the annual Murgon Art Festival will be held at the South Burnett PCYC at 40 Macalister Street, Murgon from 10:00am to 3:00pm today. The Festival draws artists from all over the South Burnett and south-east Queensland, and many entries are for sale. The event is a joint fundraiser for the Murgon Show Society and the PCYC, and everyone is welcome!
Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival
The final day of the weekend-long 2014 Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival - Blackbutt's annual town festival - will be held in and around Blackbutt today. This year's event will feature floral and produce displays; home and garden stalls; vintage machinery and fire brigade displays; photography, art and sculpture competitions; a reptile show; quilting, embroidery, wool spinning, felting and jewellery exhibitions; roving entertainers; and a lot more running between 8:00am to 3:00pm at the Festival's five venues - the Blackbutt Showgrounds, Blackbutt Rail Head, Les Muller Park, Blackbutt's main street and the Blackbutt Hall. Free car parking and overnight camping is available at the Blackbutt Showgrounds. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. You can find out more on the Festival's website.
Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy RSL in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Sunday afternoon poker games today. Registration starts at 2:00pm and the first cards are dealt at 2:30pm. There are $150 in prizes to be won and no fees to play. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Timbertown Woodworkers Meeting - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:00am until around 12:00pm today. Sunday Afternoon Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon Pot Luck Doubles darts competitions from 11:00am to 4:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. A $10 playing fee applies, but that includes a great BBQ lunch. New players are always welcome - the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert - and you can obtain more details by phoning Kurt on (0403) 400-771 (after 5:00pm) or Bianca on (0431) 954-023. Note: Pot Luck Doubles may not run on every Sunday due to other competitions, so call first to check if you really, really want to play PLD today.
Murgon RC Club Race Meeting - Murgon
The Murgon RC Club for radio-controlled cars will be holding Round 4 of their Winter Series at Angelfield Aerodrome at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon from 10:00am to 2:00pm today (drive w-a-y past the Showgrounds along the dirt road and through the gate marked "Private Property"). Competitors will be racing six gruelling 7-minute laps before the adrenalin packed finals, and there'll be a BBQ lunch and soft drinks available too. Spectators are more than welcome to come along for free, but to take part in the racing you'll need to be a PCYC member ($30 per year for an adult or $60 per family - you can join up on site today) and the fee for racing is $10. Sunday Afternoon Music - Wondai
The Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai will be holding a relaxed Sunday afternoon of live music from 11:30am onwards today. Lunch and dinner will be available in the Cellar's restaurant and pizzas will be availble on the rear deck too. More details from the Cellars on (07) 4168-5274.
Clay Target Shooting Carnival - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Clay Target will be hosting the third (and final) day of their three-day 2014 Australian Clay Target Association Commonwealth Clay Target Carnival at their range on the Kingaroy-Cooyar Road in Kingaroy from 8:30am onwards this morning. This major event has previously been held in Perth and Darwin, and this will be the first time it's ever been held in Queensland. The Carnival will draw top trap shooters from all over Australia. Spectators are welcome and the club’s canteen will be operating throughout.
Kilkivan Sunday Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Nanango Country Music Muster
The 2014 Nanango Country Music Muster will wrap up at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango today with a Bush Poet's Breakfast between 7:00am and 9:30am, followed by a Gospel Music Concert from 9:30am until noon. Admission to today's get-together is free.
Murgon Golf Carnival
The Murgon Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south of Murgon will be holding the second (and final) day of a weekend-long carnival today. Today's activities will feature the finals of the South Burnett Junior Championship; the annual Men's Carnival; and the Murgon round of the Errol Cavanough Memorial Shield competition.
