2014 UAV Challenge - Kingaroy
The first day of the five-day UAV Challenge (2014 Outback Rescue) will be held at Kingaroy Airport on the Goodger Road south-west of Kingaroy today. The Challenge is an international competition for unmanned aerial vehicles (ie robot planes) and is open to all Australian high school students, university students and UAV enthusiasts. This year teams will be competing for up to $50,000 in prize monies between now and Friday, and spectators are very welcome to go out to Kingaroy Airport to watch the action close-up. Today's activities will largely focus on warm-ups - things like registration, briefings, static scrutineering and team presentaions - but there'll be scrutineering flights running between 12:00 noon and 6:00pm. Public Meeting - Blackbutt
A public meeting will be held at the Blackbutt Community Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt at 6:30pm this evening to discuss a proposal the South Burnett Regional Council has received from a developer to relocate the Hall to a new site in the town and build a multi-million dollar supermarket on the Hall's existing site. South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann will discuss the proposal and ask for the local community's feedback. If the majority of residents do not agree, the current situation will remain and the project will not proceed. Everyone is welcome and the meeting will be followed by light refreshments at around 7:30pm. For catering purposes, an RSVP to Bronywn Barry on (07) 4189-9155 would be greatly appreciated.
Digital Workshop - Nanango
A digital workshop which will teach South Burnett businesses about mobility and online communications will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 4:00pm to 7:00pm this evening. You can read more about it on our website.
Cards & Bowls Afternoon - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be holding their regular Monday afternoon indoor bowls and cards competitions at their centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy (opposite Super IGA) from 1:00pm to around 4:00pm today. Sing Australia Meeting - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy branch of the Sing Australia singing group will be holding their regular Monday night meeting at the Uniting Church Hall in Alford Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm to around 9:00pm this evening. The group have a welcoming, inclusive and fun approach to singing and meet every Monday except for school holidays. Youth Choir Practice Afternoon - Wondai
The South Burnett Youth Choir will be holding their regular Monday afternoon practice sessions at the Anglican Church Hall in Baynes Street, Wondai from 4:00pm to around 6:30pm today. The Junior SBYC will practice at 4:00pm; the Concert Choir at 4:30pm; and the Senior SBYC at 5:30pm. The choir offers group and (optional) solo singing of pop and classical music under instruction from qualified teachers, and supports the school music curriculum. New singers are always very welcome! Breastscreen Bus - Nanango
The mobile breast screening bus will be opening at Nanango Hospital in Brisbane Street, Nanango today (and staying there until November 4). The bus offers a free breast screening service, and all women over the age of 40 are encouraged to attend. You can book an appointment by phoning 132-050.

Alcoholics Anonymous - Wondai
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths and hopes with each other to help solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, and AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution.
