South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Elsie & Norm's Macbeth - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be staging the third performance of their latest production "Elsie And Norm's Macbeth" at the Nanango Opera House at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango at 7:00pm this evening (performance starts at 7:30pm sharp). The new play is a comedy in two acts by British playwright John Wood about the hilarious misadventures of an elderly couple, Elsie and Norm, who decide to share some “culture” with their neighbours by staging Shakespeare’s “Scottish play” in their lounge room, with some updates to make it snappier. Tonight's performance is a Supper Night and tickets are $20 for adults or $15 concessions. One final performance will be held at the same time and venue tomorrow night with a $25-per-head Wine & Cheese Night. Tickets can be obtained from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre at the Henry Street Energy Museum or by phoning (07) 4171-0100. Murgon Art Festival Opening Night
The annual Murgon Art Festival will be officially opened at the South Burnett PCYC at 40 Macalister Street, Murgon at 7:00pm this evening. The Festival - which will be open tomorrow and Sunday - draws artists from all over the South Burnett and south-east Queensland, and many entries are for sale. The event is a joint fundraiser for the Murgon Show Society and the PCYC, and everyone is welcome!
QCWA Gympie/South-Burnett Division Craft Exhibition - Murgon
It's all go in Murgon today! The QCWA Gympie/South-Burnett Division Craft Exhibition will be held at the Murgon CWA Rooms from 9:30am to 3:30pm today. This annual craft exhibition and competition attracts a wide variety of excellent work from QCWA members all over the region, and the winning entries from each section will go on to the State competition, which will be held at Ipswich in late October. This year's Exhibition will be officially opened at 10:00am by Cr Kathy Duff and the $3 entry includes a great morning tea. Everyone is welcome! More details? Vietnamese International Day - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell QCWA and Tanduringie State School pupils will be holding a Vietnamese International Day at the Maidenwell Hall this afternoon. Doors will open at 11:30am and a program of entertainment will begin at noon. There'll also be a display of the children's entries in the CWA International competition. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome.
Wondai & District Garden Club Meeting

Clay Target Shooting Carnival - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Clay Target will be hosting the 2014 Australian Clay Target Association Commonwealth Clay Target Carnival at their range on the Kingaroy-Cooyar Road in Kingaroy today and all this weekend. This major event has previously been held in Perth and Darwin, and this will be the first time it's ever been held in Queensland. The Carnival will draw top trap shooters from all over Australia. Spectators are welcome on all days - today's shooting begins at 8:30am - and the club’s canteen will be operating throughout. Tonight there’ll also be a welcome barbecue and fireworks display from about 6:30pm as part of the opening night celebrations.
Men's Shed - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be open from 9:00am to 12:00 noon and 2:00pm to 4:00pm today behind the Salvation Army's headquarters at 44 Alford Street in Kingaroy. The shed is open to all men who'd enjoy the companionship of other men while undertaking woodwork, metalwork or similar projects or who'd just enjoy a chat. More details? Friday Night Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy

Nanango Country Music Muster
The 2014 Nanango Country Music Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from the 11th to the 14th of September this year, and today the Muster will get underway at 7:00am with a Bush Poets Breakfast. This will be followed with an Invited Artists Concert from 12:00 noon to 10:00pm, and a bar and canteen will be operating at the Showgrounds from as well. You can get in to attend today's concert for $20; and an all-day Saturday pass will be $30 (or $15 if you want to attend from 3:00pm onwards); or you can buy a 4-day pass to the entire event for $45 (young people aged 14 to 17 can get tickets for half price, and under-14s accompanied by an adult can get in for free). Camping will also be available at the Showgrounds and fees range between $6 and $8.50 per night for unpowered or powered sites - but a booking for any camp site is essential because the Muster usually packs the Showgrounds to capacity. The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
