Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai

The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their third monthly exhibition for 2014 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be displaying entries in its annual "Garden Expo Art Competition" (held in conjunction with the Wondai Garden Expo), and it will be full of artworks with a floral theme. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Captain's Paddock Vineyard, live entertainment and great socialising. The South Burnett Regional Council's new Swimming For Fitness program (for adults) will be held between 9:00am and 10:00am this morning at the South Burnett Aquatic Centre in Henry Street, Nanango. This program is run by a local swimming coach and is open to adults of all fitness and ability levels. It aims to teach new ways to become physically active and how to stay active for life. 2014 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride Assembly Night

The 2014 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will get underway from early tonight when participants assemble at Widgee, Woolooga, Tansey and the Kilkivan Showgrounds to prepare for the Great Ride tomorrow. The Widgee, Woolooga and Tansey assembly points will all be offering a bar, BBQ and some form of live entertainment (as well a hearty bush breakfast tomorrow morning). And in Kilkivan, a BBQ tea will be on offer at the Showgrounds, along with a bush breakfast tomorrow morning. Tomorrow, participants will set off early in the morning for the Great Ride itself - and spectators will be able to see the sight of their lives around 4:00pm in the afternoon when close to 800 horses and riders wend their way back to Kilkivan Showgrounds along Bligh Street in a spectacular display very rarely seen in this modern age.

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy

The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
