105th Annual Nanango Show
The first day of the two-day 105th Annual Nanango Show will get underway at 9:00am this morning at Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns St, Nanango. Today's events will largely concentrate on the judging of pavilion entries but there'll be an All Breeds Championship Dog Show running from 9:00am this morning and - at 5:00pm in the afternoon - a Young Judges Competition for dairy cattle and stud beef; and a Young Handlers competition for dairy cattle and stud beef at 7:00pm. There'll also be a Ute Muster running in the main ring at 6:00pm. If you attend the Show today you can get in for free (the Show's main day is tomorrow) and a bar and BBQ will be in operation from 5:00pm this afternoon as well. More details? CROW-FM Charity Auction For Shona Mucket
CROW-FM 90.7 will be holding a live, on-air auction as a fundraiser for Murgon's dual amputee Shona Muckert from 6:00am to 9:00am this morning on Corky's breakfast show. A wide range of great local goods and services will be up for auction, and South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann will also be taking to the airwaves in a brief return to radio announcing to help things along. If you're looking for a bargain and want to help a great local cause at the same time, tune in to 90.7 FM this morning, then pick up the phone or fire off an email and make a bid.
Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Nimue Art Gallery at 6 King Street, Kingaroy (just next to the Carrollee Hotel) will be opening their new exhibition at 6:30pm this evening. This month's exhibition features a collection of watercolours, oils and silk paintings from the 1920s to the early 1980s which are being sold on behalf of a private collector, along with several new works by former South Burnett artist Mark Shellshear. Barambah Garden Club Meeting

Nanango Kindy High Tea
The Nanango Kindy will be holding a special High Tea at Ringsfield House at 45 Alfred Street, Nanango from 10:00am to 12:00 noon this morning as a fundraiser. Tickets are $25 per head and Bellbird Vineyard wines will be available by the glass or bottle at extra cost. Swimming For Fitness - Nanango
The South Burnett Regional Council's new Swimming For Fitness program (for adults) will be held between 9:00am and 10:00am this morning at the South Burnett Aquatic Centre in Henry Street, Nanango. This program is run by a local swimming coach and is open to adults of all fitness and ability levels. It aims to teach new ways to become physically active and how to stay active for life. If you're coming along, bring your swimming togs, a towel, sun protection and (if applicable) medication. Session fees are $5 if you're in full-time employment, or $2.50 if you're not. More details? Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The winners of the South Burnett Regional Council's annual Acquisitive Art Competition will be announced at the Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (just opposite the peanut silos) at 7:00pm this evening. This year's Acquisitive has the theme "The Great War 100 Years Ago", and the exhibition features 30 works by South Burnett, North Burnett and Fraser Coast artists with a WWI motif. Doors open at 6:00pm and in addition to the $2000 in prize monies that the first three place-getters will share, the Kingaroy-Memerambi RSL Sub-Branch are sponsoring a $500 People's Choice Award and votes will be accepted until 7:00pm. Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes own at 10:30am). Friday Night Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. The $15 green fee includes all games and a great BBQ dinner, and it's open to bowlers and non-bowlers alike - just wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
