South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Reconciliation Fun Run - Murgon and Cherbourg
The inaugural Reconciliation Fun Run will be run between Murgon and Cherbourg at 8:00am this morning. The Fun Run will be followed by a day of games, foods, dance, music and much more at the Ration Shed Museum. Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These family friendly monthly markets feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds. Murgon RC Club Fun Day - Murgon
The Murgon RC Club for radio-controlled cars will be holding a Fun Day at their racetrack next to Angelfield Aerodrome at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon from 10:00am to 2:00pm today (drive w-a-y past the Showgrounds along the dirt road and through the gate marked "Private Property"). Competitors can race their cars around the circuit as much as they like, and there'll be a BBQ lunch and soft drinks available too. Spectators are more than welcome to come along for free, but to take part in the racing you'll need to be a PCYC member ($30 per year for an adult or $60 per family - you can join up on site today) and the fee for racing is $10. Kilkivan Sunday Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. RSPCA Animal Expo Day - Nanango
The RSPCA will be holding an Animal Expo Day at Nanango RSL's car park in Henry Street, Nanango from 11:00am onwards today. There'll be lots of animals available for adoption, and every dog adopted today will receive a free class from Kingaroy Dog Obedience, a free hydrobath from Puss & Woof and the animal's next vaccination at Nanango Veterinary Surgery. There'll also be hydrobaths available from Puss & Woof in the car park if you want to bring along your current pet for a good wash. And for extra fun there'll also be a BBQ, jumping castle, face painting and snow cones on site, plus pig races, as well as great live music from the ever-popular Neil Duddy from 12:00 noon onwards. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy RSL in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Sunday afternoon poker games today. Registration starts at 2:00pm and the first cards are dealt at 2:30pm. There are $150 in prizes to be won and no fees to play. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Sunday AFL - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints will be playing their first home game in this year's Darling Downs AFL competition when they line up against the Coolaroo Roos at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today (just next to the Beangrowers' silos). U8s and U10s will start the day's play-offs at 10:15am, and they'll be followed by the U14s at 11:00am, then the main game at 12:30pm. The Saints are undefeated so far this season - they trounced the Highfields Lions in their first match earlier this month - and are naturally keen to continue their winning ways. Spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Sunday Afternoon Touch Footy Training - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Touch Football Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon touch footy training sessions at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy for juniors (at 4:00pm) and seniors (at 5:00pm). New players are very welcome!
Sunday Afternoon Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon Pot Luck Doubles darts competitions from 11:00am to 4:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. A $10 playing fee applies, but that includes a great BBQ lunch. New players are always welcome - the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert - and you can obtain more details by phoning Kurt on (0403) 400-771 (after 5:00pm) or Bianca on (0431) 954-023. Note: Pot Luck Doubles may not run on every Sunday due to other competitions, so call first to check if you really, really want to play PLD today.
Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers Muster - Boondooma
The final day of the 5-day Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers Muster will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Durong-Mundubbera Road, Boondooma today. This popular annual campout event features lots of Australia's top bush balladeers and poets (55 will be appearing at the Muster this year) along with walk-up artists. The Muster routinely attracts 700 to 800 caravanners plus day-trippers, and in addition to bucketloads of non-stop great music there'll also be camp oven meals, a licensed bar, BBQ, stalls, displays of vintage cars and engines, photography and historical items. Tickets are $85 for the full five days of the festival, or $15 of you just want a day pass for today (children under 15 are free). South Burnett Orchid Society Meeting - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Orchid Society will be holding their regular last Sunday of the month meeting at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm onwards this aftenoon. The Society exists for orchid enthusiasts of all skill levels, and new members and visitors are always very welcome. More details?
