105th Annual Nanango Show
The main public day of the 105th Annual Nanango Show will get underway at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango at 7:00am this morning when the gates open and prime cattle judging begins. There'll be all the usual show fun including a post-ripping competition, woodchopping, championship dog show, and a full range of ring events. The Show will be officially opened with a Grand Parade at 1:30pm. The popular rodeo will start at 3:00pm and will be followed by the Heritage Community Bank Fireworks Display at 8:30pm, as well as live entertainment by Flashback from 6:00pm to midnight. Other features of this year's Show to look out for include Pig Races, a Ute Muster, Vintage Car Displays, the hilarious Wild Cow Milking Competition, Rooftop Express and a big sideshow alley for both the young and young at heart. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for pension card holders, children over 14 and unaccompanied children. Children under 14 accompanied by a paying adult are admitted free. Kingaroy Show Ball
The annual Kingaroy Show Ball - the traditional curtain-raiser for the Kingaroy Show, which will run on May 3 and 4 this year - will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around midnight tonight. This fully licensed affair offers live music; old time, new vogue, rock & roll and line dancing; and a great roast dinner, dessert and supper. It will also see the judging of Kingaroy's Miss Showgirl and Rural Ambassador for 2014, both with a $500 cash prize thanks to sponsors. Full dinner tickets are $45 per head or $80 per couple - but if you just want to come for supper, supper tickets can be obtained at the door for $20 each. However to assist with catering, bookings for dinner tickets need to be made by April 7. They can be obtained from Coppards Menswear in Kingaroy Street in person or by phoning them on (07) 4162-1359. Murgon Camera Club Meeting - Wondai
The Murgon Camera Club will be holding their regular monthly meeting at The Studio at the rear of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. Kids On Tour - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be hosting a special travelling exhibition from Brisbane's Gallery Of Modern Art (GOMA) between 9:30am and 1:00pm today to provide free holiday entertainment for children aged 6 to 11. The exhibition is "Kids On Tour" by renowned artist Cai Guo-Qiang, and children who attend will be able to take part in a range of exciting art projects including creating spectacular multimedia gunpowder drawings and other explosion events, and enjoying a short animated film about the art and adventures of Cai. This touring exhibition has been travelling all through Queensland over the last few months and today's appearance in Wondai will be its only South Burnett outing. Barambah Shed Men Meeting - Goomeri
The Barambah Shed Men will be holding their 25th meeting at Eric Schliff’s place at 13 Dalkie Street, Goomeri from 5:00pm onwards this evening. Host Eric has built two 1906 replica Stanley Steamer cars, and he'll be showing them off and giving a talk about how he built them to kick-start the meeting. This will be followed by a relaxed BBQ and drinks around 6:00pm, and then a talk from the night's second guest speaker: singer, comedian and all-round Aussie entertainer Kedron Taylor, who's had numerous Golden Guitar nominations and is quite a dinkum bloke. The $10 admission fee includes a meal, dessert, soft drinks and tea/coffee (young blokes under 15 can come along for free) but an RSVP by Monday April 7 would be appreciated for catering purposes. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's monthly Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls and an under-cover play area for children. Moonlight Karaoke - Kingaroy

Frock Swap Fundraiser - Inverlaw
A Frock Swap will be held at Mulanah Gardens at 736 Deep Creek Rd, Inverlaw from 2:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon. All guests should bring along 5 fashion items (eg: clothes, accessories and hats) in good condition and can then help themselves to an equal number of other treasures. Tickets are $30 per head - which includes a great Devonshire Tea and five raffle tickets, and there'll be terrific prizes up for grabs from Captains Paddock, Expressions of Lime, Kingaroy Kitchen, Chris Cross Hair Studio, Taste South Burnett and more! Note: Today's Frock Swap is a fundraiser for Love Hope Jump, who are building a safe house in Cape Town, South Africa for women who have been exploited in the sex slave trade.

Cherbourg Shire Council By-Election
Cherbourg Shire Council will be holding a by-election today to fill the vacancy caused by the death of respected elder Bert Button in February this year. Five candidates have nominated to replace him - Arnold Murray, Vinnie Conlon, Ashley Lyle Hill, Tom Langton and J. Emma Stewart - and votes can be cast at the polling booths set up at Cherbourg State School in Fisher Street between 8:00am and 6:00pm today. Voting is compulsory.
