South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
The Glory Of Easter - Murgon and Kingaroy
The South Burnett Chorale will be presenting their Easter concert "The Glory Of Easter" at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Angel Avenue, Murgon at 2:30pm this afternoon; and then again at St John's Lutheran Church at 36 Markwell Street in Kingaroy at 6:00pm tonight. "The Glory Of Easter" is a cantata by John W. Peterson with extracts from "The Crucifixion" by John Steiner, and when it was last performed in region it drew rave reviews. Admission to either concert is by donation, and the proceeds of each concert will be given to local charities. In Murgon, the concert will go to aid local drought relief efforts; and in Kingaroy, to assist the South Burnett Pantry. Everyone is welcome!
Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Nanango & District Camera Club Meeting
The Nanango & District Camera Club will be meeting at St Patrick's School library at 16 Alfred Street, Nanango from 1:00pm onwards this afternoon - a week earlier than usual because of the up-coming Easter long weekend. Today's meeting will be addressed by John and Bob from the Photographic Society of Queensland (PSQ) about the 2014 Boonah PSQ Convention, after which club members will go on a competitive photo hunting expedition around town. Kilkivan Sunday Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Murgon RC Club Race Meeting - Murgon
The Murgon RC Club for radio-controlled cars will be holding Round 4 of their Summer Series at Angelfield Aerodrome at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon from 10:00am to 2:00pm today (drive w-a-y past the Showgrounds along the dirt road and through the gate marked "Private Property"). Competitors will be racing six gruelling 7-minute laps before the adrenalin packed finals, and there'll be a BBQ lunch and soft drinks available too. Spectators are more than welcome to come along for free, but to take part in the racing you'll need to be a PCYC member ($30 per year for an adult or $60 per family - you can join up on site today) and the fee for racing is $10. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy RSL in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Sunday afternoon poker games today. Registration starts at 2:00pm and the first cards are dealt at 2:30pm. There are $150 in prizes to be won and no fees to play. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Sunday Afternoon Darts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon Pot Luck Doubles darts competitions from 11:00am to 4:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. A $10 playing fee applies, but that includes a great BBQ lunch. Bored In Blackbutt Board Games
The Blackbutt Board Gaming Club will be playing board games at Nukku Nook (the Rail Trail Head in Hart Street, Blackbutt) from 1:00pm to around 4:00pm today. Players can bring along their own games if they wish, and the $4 meeting fee covers a great afternoon tea and room hire.
