Proston Centenary Celebrations
- Proston's Centenary Celebrations will quietly get underway at 7:00am today in nearby Hivesville, where Hivesville's QCWA Rooms in Main Street will be open for visitors and serving delicious Devonshire Teas until noon. At 9:00am, a Dressmaker's Exhibition will open in a pavilion at the Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road (this will run until 4:00pm), and from 2:00pm until around 5:00pm there'll be food stalls operating at Railway Park in Rodney Street and a Back To Basics Kitchen running beside the nearby Proston Community Hall to serve up late lunches and afternoon teas, as well as take early-bird registrations for this weekend's Centenary celebrations. In the evening, Emma's Coffee Shop in Blake Street will be holding a Pizza Night; Proston's golf and bowls clubs will both be open for dinner from 5:00pm to 7:30pm (bookings essential); and the Golden Spurs Hotel will be hosting live entertainment from 4:00pm until late with The Three Mustavbeers, along with raffles and dinners.
National Police Remembrance Day - Nanango
- Today is National Police Remembrance Day, a day when police officers and their supporters gather together to remember fellow officers who have fallen in the line of duty, as well as recognise the commitment, dedication and bravery of all past, present and future police officers. In the South Burnett, a service is held at a different town in the region each year to mark this day. This year's service will be held at the Uniting Church at 454 Gipps Street, Nanango from 9:30am (for a 10:00am start). Everyone is welcome.
Mobile Women’s Health Nurses - Murgon
- Darling Downs Hospital & Health's mobile women's health nurses will be at Murgon Community Health from 8:00am to 4:30pm today to provide a range of free services including cervical screening tests, breast awareness, sexual health testing and advice for issues such as continence, menopause, family planning, contraception and general wellbeing. Annie Jr - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's youth theatre will be presenting their first performance of the musical Annie Junior "in the round" at the Kingaroy State High School's Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm tonight. Annie Jr is based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning musical by Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin and was last performed in the region in 2021. Kingaroy RSL Bingo

Aussies Fighting Back - Kingaroy, Wooroolin & Wondai
- Billboard Battalion will be bringing their Aussies Fighting Back 2023 tour to the South Burnett today. The group believe the World Economic Forum, United Nations, World Health Organisation and Australian Government are jointly plotting to dispose of billions of people by destroying food supplies, introducing permanent lockdowns, wiping out energy systems and creating smart cities, and claim the media aren't reporting any of this. They will start their local tour with a billboard display that will assemble behind Kingaroy Town Hall at 12:00 noon for a one-hour walk around the CBD. This will be followed with a talk at Memorial Park in Haly Street between 1:30pm and 2:45pm (BYO picnic lunch and chairs). After this, the group will move to Wooroolin Hall for another talk (3:30pm to 6:15pm) before wrapping up with a third talk at the Wondai Memorial Hall (7:00pm to 9:30pm). Billboard Battalion is funded by donations and while all of today's events are free, participants and guests will be encouraged to contribute to their cause.
Friday Social Golf - Proston
- The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. - The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting, or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer. Alcoholics Anonymous - Murgon
- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Murgon every Wednesday and Friday at 12:30pm at the Baptist Church at 94 MacAlister Street, and members who can't make it in person can join in the meeting online via Zoom. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
