Steaming Back To Wondai

Wondai will be commemorating the 120th anniversary of the arrival of the first passenger train to the town with a celebration at Coronation Park in Mackenzie Street, Wondai at 5:00pm this afternoon. Community members will be unveiling a plinth containing a 30-year time capsule full of memorabilia contributed by the local community, along with a plaque which will explain the capsule to future Wondai residents who open it in 2053. The Wondai Lions will be running a free sausage sizzle during the event and after the ceremonies, the day will be capped off with a special dinner at the Wondai Diggers Club for those who made an RSVP to the club on (07) 4168-5297 by September 1. RU OK Day Community Sausage Sizzle - Nanango
Today is RU OK Day, an annual event to raise awareness about mental health issues and encourage everyone in the community to ask "RU OK?" if they notice anyone struggling, using a simple 4-step technique that has been proven to change lives. To mark RU OK Day, Heritage Community Branch Nanango and the Nanango Men's Shed will be hosting a free sausage sizzle outside Heritage's branch office at the corner of Drayton and Fitzroy Streets, Nanango from 10:30am this morning. Everyone is welcome (the Nanango Men's Shed do really great sausage sizzles!) and if you're unfamiliar with the RU OK method, there'll also be information on hand about it as well.
Line Dancing - Wooroolin

RU OK Day Community March & BBQ - Cherbourg
An RU OK Day community march and BBQ will be held in Cherbourg today. The march will kick off at 9:00am from the yarning circle in Wakka Wakka Park, and it will be followed by a free BBQ lunch. This year's local theme is "It Ain't Weak to Speak" and all participants will be encouraged to ask RUOK and be willing stop, sit and listen with love. Everyone is welcome!
Thursday Night Trivia - Nanango
Nanango RSL will be holding its weekly Trivia competition from 6:30pm tonight. It's just a gold coin donation to join in and there'll be 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize club vouchers for the winners of each round. The club's kitchen will also be open if you want dinner or a snack. RU OK Day Paint, Pour And Party - Kingaroy
The Little Italy cafe at 194 Kingaroy Street in Kingaroy will be running "Paint, Pour And Party" between 10:00am and 2:00pm today at their premises as a fundraiser for the RU OK organisation. Simply come along and create your own pot by pouring some paint over it with mixed colors and designs while you enjoy a few nibbles and a glass of sparkling! Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Youth Crew Crafternoon - Kumbia
CTC's Youth Crew will be running a Thursday Crafternoon from 3:30pm to 5:00pm today for young people aged 12 to 24 at the Kumbia QCWA Hall at 38 Bell Street in Kumbia. This free get-together will let participants try their hand at a range of crafts. However, to help plan the supplies an RSVP would be appreciated. Indoor Bowls - Wooroolin

South Burnett Gem & Fossicking Club
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding their regular Thursday meeting at their club's workshop in the shed at the rear of 44 Alford Street, Kingaroy from 8:30am to around 2:30pm today. Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 8:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price for people facing financial difficulties.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution.
