South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2023 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting "New Beginnings" by Julie Tomlinson in the front gallery; "Satisfaction" by the Monday Artists in the main gallery; "Pieces Of Me" by Trish Erkens in the third gallery; and works by Moffatdale State School in Kidz Korner. As usual, opening night will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from South Burnett winery Nuova Scuola, live entertainment by Laurie Hogman and lots of fun socialising. Heritage Nanango Playfest
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the first night of their 3-day 2023 Heritage Nanango Playfest at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 6:30pm (when the doors open) for the first of the night's three one-act plays - Tiaras At The Palace - starting at 7:00pm. This will be followed by a second play (Deep), and then Last Tango In Little Grimley. Tickets to tonight's session are just $10 per head or you can book a season pass for tonight, tomorrow and Sunday - a whopping 17 plays in all - for just $40. Tickets can be booked online but they'll also be available at the door tonight unless sold out. The winners of this year's Playfest will be announced on Sunday around 12:30pm.
Kingaroy RSL Bingo
Bingo games will be running at Kingaroy RSL from 9:30am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be multiple jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help local good causes. Everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Friday Night Barefoot Bowls - Kilkivan

Friday Social Golf - Proston
The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting, or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer. Outdoor Movie Night - Kingaroy
St John's Lutheran School P&F will be hosting an outdoor movie night on the school's oval in Ivy Street, Kingaroy this evening. There'll be two screening sessions - one at 5:45pm for "The Bad Guys", and the second session at 7:45pm for "The Super Mario Bros Movie". Tickets are just $5 per family and you should BYO blanket, rug or chair. You can also bring a picnic dinner or snacks from home, or you can purchase a pizza and soft drinks from Dominos when you book tickets online.
Steaming Back To Wondai Dinner RSVP Deadline
Today is the last day you can phone the Wondai Diggers Club on (07) 4168-5297 to RSVP for a special dinner being held on Thursday, September 14 to mark the 120th anniversary of the arrival of the first passenger train in the town.
Soccer Semi-Finals - Kingaroy
Football fans should head to Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street in Kingaroy tonight for the semi-finals of the senior men's and women's competitions. At 6:15pm, Kingaroy West women will play Kingaroy Easts women, and they'll be followed at 7:45pm by the men's semi-final, when Kingaroy Islanders play against Barambah. A canteen will be operating in the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
Line Dancing - Kingaroy

Blue Light Disco - Murgon
A Blue Light Disco for children aged 6-13 years will be held at Murgon Town Hall in Gore Street, Murgon from 6:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. Admission - which includes a sausage sizzle - is just $5 and snacks, lollies, soft drinks and other items will be available for cash purchases as well. Darling Downs Hospital & Health's mobile women's health nurses will be at Murgon Community Health from 8:00am to 4:30pm today to provide a range of free services including cervical screening tests, breast awareness, sexual health testing and advice for issues such as continence, menopause, family planning, contraception and general wellbeing. 2023 Wondai Show
The first day of the annual two-day Wondai Show will be run at the Wondai Showgrounds in Baynes Street, Wondai today. The gates will open at the open at 9:00am for pavilion judging (which is closed to the public), but at 5:00pm there'll be competitions for Stud Beef cattle, Young Judges, Paraders and Schools in the main ring, along with a BBQ operating in the cattle area. Admission to today's events is $10 for adults or $6 for pensioners and students.

Alcoholics Anonymous - Murgon
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Murgon every Wednesday and Friday at 12:30pm at the Baptist Church at 94 MacAlister Street, and members who can't make it in person can join in the meeting online via Zoom. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
