South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster
The final day of the four-day 2023 Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster will be held at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from 7:00am this morning, when the action will kick off with a Bush Poet's Breakfast that will run until 9:30am. The brekky will be followed by a Gospel Music Concert that will run from 9:30am to around noon, after which guests will start to depart back to their homes all over south-east Queensland. Admission to today's Muster is completely free, and you can get more details about this year's event on the Nanango Show Society's website or by phoning the Show Society on (07) 4163-1273.
Double Dingo Duathlon - Wondai
The inaugural Double Dingo Duathlon will be held at Wondai from 7:00am this morning (when racing starts) through to around 12:00 noon. The event is jointly sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council and the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association and it offers two distances to cater to athletes of all levels: a 2km run and a 10km ride; or an 8km run and a 25km ride. Racing will start at McKell Park near the Wondai Timber Industry Museum, follow a course towards Murgon and back again to finish at Coronation Park. Course fees are $30 for the 2km course or $50 for the 8km course ($60 for a team). The event is open to men, women and children and registrations and a full program schedule can be obtained online
Senior Soccer Grand Finals - Kingaroy
The Grand Finals of the Football South Burnett senior soccer competition will be played at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy today. The Nanango Panthers will play Kingaroy Wests in the Women’s Grand Final from 3:00pm, and they'll be followed by the Men's Grand Final between Kingaroy Islanders and Kingaroy Easts from 5:00pm. A canteen will be operating in the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until about 12:00 noon today. The markets run on the second Sunday of each month and offer locally made crafts, foods and produce - always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stallholders are always welcome too! More details? Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Proston Rally & Burnouts
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding the second (and final) day of their quarterly Proston Rally at their racing track today (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston at 757 Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence early this morning and wrap up around 2:00pm this afternoon. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll also be a cash-only cantren and bar running throughout the event. Hot showers, toilets and free camping are available on site too. New Court Celebration - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt Tennis Club in Hart Street, Blackbutt will be officially opening its resurfaced second court today with a small celebration. At 10:30am the club will run junior games and hold a Sign On for an up-coming tennis clinic, which will be followed by the court's official opening at 11:30am, which will be carried out by Acting Mayor Gavin Jones and Cr Kathy Duff. This will be followed at noon by lunch (the lunch and cold drinks will be available for purchase on site) and then a Senior Fun Tournament from 1:00pm onwards. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755

South Burnett Arts will be holding its monthly meeting at The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) at 1:00pm this afternoon. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
